Shopping in Orange County California
California’s Orange County is on the southern border of Los Angeles County, with famous locations like Disneyland in Anaheim, surf cities like Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, and immensely wealthy cities like Laguna Niguel. Orange County shopping options offer a large variety of existing and upcoming retailers that locals and tourists can enjoy forever.
The Orange County Marketplace in Costa Mesa is an award-winning public flea market with over 1,000 vendors, free parking, and a $2 admission. Although Newport Beach’s Fashion Island has over 200 specialty high-end shops, Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza has the highest concentration of high-end luxury retailers in Orange County, totaling over 250.
Costa Mesa’s The LAB Anti-Mall, a slightly hidden hipster marketplace for local business owners, is part of the larger SOBECA shopping centers featuring smaller art galleries. For additional Orange County shopping in July and August, the Sawdust Art Festival features local artists. Huntington Beach has two great shopping centers: a new development, Pacific City, on the world-famous Pacific Coast Highway, and an outdoor shopping center, Bella Terra, a mix of high-end and budget-friendly stores, with free events, and live music.
Anaheim’s Downtown Disney district provides the best of Disney shopping without the theme park admission. The Irvine Spectrum Center, a Southern California hotspot barely 10 miles from Disney, has more than 130 retailers. The Outlets at Orange is a Simon Mall, and owns The Brea Mall, both family-friendly malls providing a more familiar shopping experience in Orange County. See about OC Restaurants.
